Some links you might like

We like these places, if you like SHOP, you might like them too...

[S][H][O][P]

Christmas Steps Arts Quarter

We are based in the lovely Christmas Steps Arts Quarter and help organise events with the traders and residents association. There are lots of very interesting independent shops, galleries and bars too!

.

Bookyish

Thoughts about books.  SHOP likes books very much.

.

Amnesty International

Amnesty and the vital work they do to protect human rights around the world need no introduction, but have a look at their website anyway.

.

VIVA!

The Vegetarians International Voice for Animals do a lot of vitally important campaigning on behalf of fluffy rabbits and hand sized kittens of the kind that SHOP fully supports.

.

Social Enterprise Works

Realising our true identity wouldn’t have been possible without the support and continued support of all at SEW.  They provide this support and information for all companies who already are, or would like to become a Social Enterprise. They are all lovely too.

.

The Rough Guides

We’re really happy to have been included in The Rough Guide to Bristol, Bath & Somerset and not only that, we’ve been named as an Author’s Pick 2012! Which means we get this swishy sticker.  Check them out, they quite obviously have excellent taste!

.

Adbusters

We have been granted ‘Blackspot’ anti-preneurial status by Adbusters magazine.  Strong sentiment and anti-establishment leanings mean it’s a definite ‘alternative’ read, but very empowering.

.

Seed

One of the most simple yet effective ideas ever.  Plant free wild flowers wherever you can, as much as you can and track the progress online!

.

Bloom and Curll

This second hand bookshop is almost our neighbour and is a haven for all lovers of literature. No musty dusty skankiness though, possibly the prettiest bookshop in all the world.

.

20th Century Flicks

You don’t need any of those big chain video shops and download?  Schownload!  If you live in Bristol, you’ve got the best independent one – possibly in the world!

.

The Curzon

Possibly the oldest continuously operating cinema in Europe and an absolute gem.  Be sure to settle yourself in with some popcorn from the curtained snack booth, or you could wait until the interval—yes interval!  And arrive early so you can listen to the Wurlitzer.  Yes, Wurlitzer!

.

Banksy

Local and now, international hero, Banksy has something to tell us.  If it’s not poignant, then it will be funny and it might even be both.

.

Stitch Stitch Records

Many of Stitch Stitch’s signings have graced SHOP and they have all been amazing.  Upgrade your record collection by buying some of these musical genii.

Café Kino

This little Stokes Croft Social Enterprise is ethically perfect, as are their cakes, breakfasts, dinners and all the other delicious vegan delights.

.

A Fair Cup

We could bang on about their ethics and all that other saving the planet stuff, but besides all that it does good coffee and is right in the centre and is very friendly too! And when it gets cold, they give you blankets, aww!

.

Here

Here are a shop and gallery who were and remain way ahead of their time. They sell gorgeous prints, accessories, books and comics. Very nice indeed.

.

Big Pink Cake

A top indie pop night out! And now a record label too. Matthew and Heather know their music alrighty.

.

Monikas

This little shop/deli/take away in Kingsdown dispenses lovely unusual food, homemade curries and advice at point of sale!

.

Chesapeake

The design studio that help non-profits and small organisations to have beautiful websites as big as their hearts.  Chesapeake are also SHOP heroes, as they helped us massively with this website!

.

The Bristol Bike Project

A volunteer-run, community bike project, repairing and recycling unwanted bicycles in order to provide them to underprivileged and marginalised groups within Bristol.  Nuff said.

.

Tenderfoot

Tenderfoot is a gift shop, work shop and gallery space in Brislington, Bristol. They are very proud of what they do and so they should be. A SHOP sister from another mister.

.

The Resting Chef

We like resting and we like food, but most of all we like Danielle!  She is a true SHOP-friend who brings us biscuits like the ones in the picture below AND jelly and ice cream on our birthday!  If you want to sample such delights, have a click on the link to find out more about The Resting Chef’s supper club.

.

.

The Bristol Pound

Bristol will soon have it’s very own currency and SHOP will be accepting it!  Have a little read about the project, it is most interesting…
